Saturday, June 1st was the 600th birthday of Joan of Arc and Rouen, France celebrates this occasion with gusto. Reenactments bring this time of history back to life. I saw things I didn’t understand how they applied to the story I remember in history class but the locals did. What I did get was how Joan herself would have been overwhelmed with the knowledge of how in her life and death she became a legend. A strong woman making an important statement and becoming an inspiration for women everywhere for the years to come. We can look into the history books for many of these examples.
Traveled to a lovely little village, a fishing port of Honfleur located along the beautiful Normandy coast. Saturday is a busy day here along with a picture perfect sunny day; locals and visitors alike were in the cafes, shops and restaurants. This is the apple region as well and the cider flowed. The make caramel here too and the taste is like nothing I have had.
It is so hard to decide which picture to add to this post.
I promise to create an album!
